Oriental art created with poker chips!

Using Poker Chips and Money Envelopes

by Thrifty Stamper

A few months ago I was asked to start making cards that have an "Oriental Flavor." Marks' Finest Papers a Heinrich Co. has a new line of Oriental items. One of my favorites is the red Money Envelopes.
Here is some background on red envelopes that I found at the library. In oriental societies red envelopes contain money and are presented as gifts during holidays or special occasions.
The lady at the local Chinese Restaruant gives me a red envelope every year filled with antique oriental coins every Chinese New Year. I give her homemade cookies at Christmas. It's our tradition.
Non-Stamping Tip: The Red Money Envelopes can be used to hold charms, bobby pins, and buttons!
To make this card you will need:
Stamp sets: Daffodil Greetings (butterfly) Asian Delights
Embossing powder in black and gold
Versa mark
Gold cord
Charm
Poker chip
Heat tool
Red Money Envelope
Scissors
Adhesive
Black cardstock
cardstock for base and focal panel
Circle punch
Sharpie black

Color the poker chip with the Sharpie.
You will be using the chip as a base for your sentiment.
Cut out the image from the front of the Red Money Envelope.
Save the rest of the envelope! You can use the other images on another card!
Flip envelope over and stamp Oriental word in Versa mark. Embossing in black. Punch out. Adhere the punch to the Poker Chip.

Use Craft Bond to glue down the image to black cardstock.
Cut around image leaving a 1/8" mat.

Emboss the butterfly from Daffodil Greetings in gold for background on the focal layer.
Finished project.
